Prerequisites:

The Division/ Group Supervisor - EPA 339 training is a pre-requisite to the Operations Section Chief training. This course is intended for U.S. EPA and U.S. Coast Guard personnel who have successfully completed Incident Command System I-100, 200, 300, 400 level courses, IS-700b and IS-800d, and who have been identified to fulfill the Operations Section Chief position on an Incident Management Team.

Course Description:

This 3-day course is designed to meet all the requirements and training needs of the Operations Section Chief for a Type 2 Incident Management Team. The Division/ Group Supervisor - EPA 339 training is a pre-requisite to the Operations Section Chief training.


 

This course is intended for U.S. EPA and U.S. Coast Guard personnel who have successfully completed Incident Command System I-100, 200, 300, 400 level courses, IS-700b and IS-800d, and who have been identified to fulfill the Operations Section Chief position on an Incident Management Team.

After completing the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts and use of divisions, groups and branches to effectively manage all-risk incident operations.
  • Demonstrate effective information gathering practices to assess incident assignments and determine immediate actions.
  • Describe effective information sharing practices.
  • Describe why and when tactics may need to be adjusted.
  • Demonstrate the Operations Section Chief's role in an Operational Period Briefing.
  • Describe the Operations Section Chief's role in managing and adjusting the operational organization.
  • Describe the Operations Section Chief's role in risk assessment and safety management.
  • Describe the Operations Section Chief's role in developing the operational portion of an Incident Action Plan.
  • Describe the Operations Section Chief's role in developing and implementing contingency plans and demobilization plans.
